As avid speedway fans we have been coming here for many years. Poole Speedway has its home here at Wimborne Road and it is a popular venue with restaurant facilities and a greyhound track.
There are seating arrangements in the stadium stand and standing room around the terraces. There is also a glass fronted building where you can sit and eat and watch the action through the windows, though the smell of methanol is missing and the fun of the race!
The track is 299.1m long and 10m wide on the straights. On the bends it widens to 14m and currently the track record is held by Antonio Lindback at 56.91 seconds on 14 June 2006.
The local speedway team is the Poole Pirates who ride in the Elite League which is featured on Sky Sports.
