St. Peter's church of Field Broughton was built in 1894 by Paley and Austen,of Lancaster.
Inside the church can be found stained glass windows by the renowned Charles E. Kempe,(1837-1907). Kempe perfected the use of silver stain on clear glass which leaves a yellow tint, which could be delicate or deep depending on the amount of silver used.
Kempe's windows feature in many churches and are wondrous.
The church is built of sandstone with a prominent spire, making the church visible for some distance from the surrounding countryside.
Field Broughton is more of an agricultural hamlet than a village, this makes a very quiet setting for the church, the churchyard therefore is a lovely place for sitting in quiet contemplation, on the day of our visit and after visiting the inside of the church we spent some time sat in the quiet of the churchyard.
Date the Church was built, dedicated or cornerstone laid: 01/01/1894
