These carvings were made by ancient inhabitants of Norway. There are other sights in the vicinity of Stavanger. The Stavanger Archeological Museum alos offers great insight in these people. These carvings are available for viewing round the clock but respect must be show for the residents of the neighborhood. Unlike many petroglyphs in Norway, the government has not highlighted for visibility with red paint. they show among other things boats with passengers. They are most easily seen by approaching form the east end of the road.
