Engine No. 103 was built in 1925 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia. The locomotive was originally owned by the Sumter & Chocktaw Railway in Alabama. In 1962, it was sold to the Empire state railway Museum which used it in service in New York until 1966. It was moved to Essex in 1970 and served as the main locomotive in the Valley Railroad for the Essex Stream Train until 1972 when it was decided that a stronger engine was needed.
