This mural covers the entire side of the fire-station vehicle garage. It is done in a semi-primative style and subdued color palette which makes it appear authentically historical. El Cuartel's building was demolished decades ago, but was well-documented in photographs and paintings of its time. This mural picturing El Cuartel, as it may have appeared before California statehood, was completed in 1998 as part of a summer youth training project.
