GA1397 - X 57 - former Washington Elem School - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

Benchmark located on Sevier Avenue between Watauga and Boone Streets. It is in poor condition due to being cut by lawn mowing equipment. When I first found this BM in 2003, there was a fence here, but has been changed to a parking lot for the senior adult apartments renovated from the school.

The official description is still correct on distances: "AT THE GRADE SCHOOL ON SEVER STREET, 10 FEET EAST OF THE EAST LINE OF THE SCHOOL, AND ABOUT 30 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE STREET. A STANDARD DISK STAMPED X 57 1934 AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST."
