Blumenhof, which in German means "Court of Flowers," takes its name from the Blumenberg family's ancestral farm in northwestern Germany. German heritage is also expressed in the winery's architecture and in the warm friendly ambiance that invites visitors to "stop... and smell the Blumen."
The vineyards were established in 1979 with the first vintage being produced in 1986. The wines have won many medals.
Grapes used include: Chambourcin, Chardonel, Cynthiana, Rayon d'Or, Seyval, Vidal, Vignoles.
The winery is part of the "Missouri Weinstrasse", a section of state highway 94 containing vineyards in the Augusta, MO appelation, designated in 1980 as the very first American Viticultural Area (AVA).
