Started in 1970, Montelle produces more than fifteen different wines using vinifera, French hybrid, and Native American vines.
They've won the Missouri Governors Cup for Best Missouri Wine several times, including winning in 2008 for their Dry Vignoles.
Grapes used include Seyval, Chardonel, Vignoles, Cynthiana and Chambourcin.
The winery is part of the "Missouri Weinstrasse", a section of state highway 94 containing vineyards in the Augusta, MO appelation, designated in 1980 as the very first American Viticultural Area (AVA).
Also onsite is the Klondike Cafe featuring sandwiches, salads, wraps, gourmet pizza and a variety of picnic platters.
