3. A BOULDER, E. end Grand Ave. bridge, N. Side of st., bears a bronze tablet commemorating the first ferry, at the junction of the Des Moines and Raccoon Rivers, operated in 1847; the first pontoon bridge, at Sycamore Street, (now Grand Ave.), built in 1856; and the first toll bridge, at Court Avenue, built in 1856.

The boulder still stands in the described location but is engraved. The bronze plaque is a Daughter's of the American Revolution seal.
