Plaque mounted on the wall of the facilities at Rest Area No. 87 on east bound I-16.

This plaque is dedicated to all of the Georgians who severed in WW I, WW II, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf and the Col War. It list how many men and women from Georgia served in the war, the number, Killed in action (KIA), wounded in action (WIA) , taken prisoner (POW) and missing in action (MIA). In also provide additional information on POWs and MIAs in these wars and in the American Revolution and Civil Wars.

  • The  77,000 Georgians who severed in World War I; the 1.937 KIA; 3,319 WIA; 67 Ex-POWs and 54 MIA.
  • The 324,373 Georgians who severed in World War II; the 6,781 KIA; 11,650 WIA; 652 Ex-POWs and 364 MIA.
  • The  75,000 Georgians who severed in the Korean War; the 740 KIA; 1,1040 WIA; 97 Ex-POWs and 174 MIA.
  • The 228,000 Georgians who severed in the Vietnam War; the 1,584 KIA; 8,534 WIA; 21 Ex-POWs and 38 MIA and 13 Remains ID
