Sam's Point is especially significant to me because my grandfather was the foreman of the CCC crew which built the fire roads on the ridgetop as mentioned in this Wikipedia article (which I did not write, BTW). My grandmother and mother lived in a tent trailer up here during the summer construction. I regret not being interested enough back then to ask more questions.
From childhood into my teens (mid Sixties), I would come here with my parents for a day each summer (we lived in Poughkeepsie, only an hour away); they would pick wild blueberries while my friends and I explored the Ice Caves. This visit introduced my sons to Sam's Point, and they became the fourth generation of my family to have a connection to this place.
