This is the trail of the BOAT (Byway Open to All Traffic) called the Forty Foot Lane. It takes you from the A6 to Chapel Lane, Souldrop, via the Santa Pod raceway at N52 14.419 W000 35.610 as BOAT 10 (Knotting and Souldrop section) and 8 (Wymington). The Byway then continues to the Odell Road past Forty Acre Wood as BOAT 34 (Odell).

The track is quite rutted in places and very wide in the section from the A6 to the railway bridge crossing. It makes a good bridleway too (as part of the Three Shires Way) and there is a farm track crossing the Forty Foot Lane where motocross cycles ride. The fact that the track goes right past Santa Pod raceway is a bonus!

The track is known as a Green Lane and is open to off roaders between 1st April to 30th September each year.
