This converted fire station was part of a multi-million pound redevelopment of the area and includes the Coventry Transport Musuem opposite. The restaurant and bar itself opened it's doors in November 2006 after a £3.5 million revamp. The front elevation is impressive with three engine entrances on either side of the pedestrian entrance to the building.
The site is located on Hales Street and close to its junction with Trinity Street and Fairfax Street. This area is commercial in character. To the east and south is the Pool Meadow bus station; also to the south are a Sainsbury Superstore and the secondary shopping of Trinity Street. To the west are the new Millennium Place, a key civic space, and the Coventry Motor Museum and beyond this is Hales Street, a mixed commercial area. To the north are Lady Herbert's Gardens and remnants of a City Gate and the Wall that are designated as a conservation area.
