This elongated Loess Island is located northwest of Interstate 90 between the towns of Sprague and Fishtrap in the scabland. The length of loess islands are generally three to four times their width and have a tear-drop shape formed by the powerful Missoula Ice Age Floodwaters. Evidently geologists come from all over the world to view these enormous islands of loess.
