"The existing building was constructed in 1930 for the fraternal Independent Order of Odd Fellows
(I.O.O.F.) on the corner of Niles Boulevard and J Street. The lodge hall on the second and third floors
was used for group meetings and the ground floor spaces rented out to a variety of businesses including
Safeway and a restaurant called the American Grill. The Munoz family purchased the building in 1974,
operated a grocery and liquor store on the ground floor and continued to rent the lodge hall to various
