The official name of this 4 mile long trail connecting South Oakland with downtown Pittsburgh is "Eliza Furnace Trail", but to many it is known as the "Jail Trail" since it passes right next to the county prison. In spring 2008, a connecting trail to the South Side Trail was opened, with a bridge span over the Monongahela River. There is a bicycle rental concession at the downtown trail-head.
