This building was part of the Athens Lumber Company at the present site of Ohio University's Human Resource and Training Center at the Corner of West Union and Factory Streets in Athens Ohio.
When the Athens Lumber Company property was purchased by Ohio University in 2000, a number of citizens voiced concern that this building would be destroyed. They claimed that it was schoolhouse that had been moved to the lumber company.
The university contracted with Hamilton House Movers and moved the building to its current location in 2001 (see story), despite finding ultimately that the building never really was a school.
Now the building serves as offices for the Athens County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. The building sits adjacent to the Adena-Hockhocking bike path, its restrooms and water fountain are open to the public.
