West Branch, Iowa is more known for being the birthplace of President Herbert Hoover. One would think the owners of Wallace Winery would play up to West Branch's history. Instead, they use their location along the Herbert Hoover Highway solely to promote their wine.

The wine they offer is very good wine with no particular speciality. Most of the tastings are free, but there are a couple of reserve wines that require a $2.00 tasting fee - but is refunded if you purchase one of those wines.

All of the wines tasted were of good quality and would be welcomed on any table when paired with the right food - the website provides an excellent pairing guide. I found the red wines to be particularly bold and hope they create additional offerings.

Getting to Wallace Winery could not be easier. Just exit Interstate 80 at Exit 249 and head east for about 2 miles along the Herbert Hoover Highway, but you already knew that since you have a GPSr.
