This tombstone is approximately 4 feet tall and about 6 feet wide. According to the information on the stone it was made entirely of stainless steel, and welded and engraved by Don Applegate in September of 2000.
The front of the headstone provides information about Donald Gene Applegate, the creator of this headstone. He was in the USMC, and also makes stainless steel belt buckles. He claims the U.S. record for the most belt buckles made by one individual. He also enjoys hunting black bears. He has also provided information for Janice Mae Perry Applegate Hothem, his wife. She was buried here in 1981.
In addition there are engravings of various animals. On the back is a full family tree that traces the Applegate family lineage. The headstone also serves as a time capsule to be opened in 2100.
