Established on 2 hectares, the lavender farm is graced by over 20,000 plants which are used as the basis for a number of health care products, cosmetics and homeopathic preparations. Admission is free at Whitebay.
During the summer months of January and February is the best time to view the fields in bloom. They can be seen from the roadside. An annual event 'Deco in the Lavender' is an opportunity to photograph vintage vehicles and art deco costumes amongst the lavender to mark the start of Hawke's Bay's famous Art Deco festival.
"For the preservation of this locality, collection or picking is prohibited".
Tours are available with the opportunity to view the lavender plants, harvesting machinery, distillery, café and tourists are given an opportunity to purchase the lavender products made from the pure lavender oil.
