The depot took some damage from the August 2005 Hurricane Katrina and is currently undergoing renovation. Over the years the station has suffered a number of modifications, rendering it almost unrecognizable, one might imagine, from the original design. There is a crossing diamond located at the northwest corner of the station. The station platform extends from this point east along the CSX line and south along the KCS line. The station was an Amtrak stop but Amtrak service was discontinued after Hurricane Katrina and has not been reinstated. The CSX line runs east to Mobile, AL and west to New Orleans, LA. The KCS line runs north to Hattiesburg, MS and south to the Port of Gulfport.
