At first glance this caboose apears to be Southern Railway caboose X601. But is believed to actually be Southern X492. Maybe the disguise, X601 derives from it being located on Hwy 601 ? Either way I just enjoyed seeing this caboose, being on display, and glad to see it is being well maintained. Thanks to caboose9 for giving me the heads up on the disguise (X2).
Located at the intersection of Hwy 601, and Barn Dance Dr. in Rowan Co., near Salisbury, NC.
It is setting at the entrance to "The Wagon Wheel" dance hall. I do know it has been there for a long time, but have no informantion as to how long etc. The overall condition is very good, and the area around it is well maintained.
There is a large parking lot nearby, and no fee to access the caboose.

Private display, public access.
