This is the Azimuth Mark for NGS station HUNT (EZ2882). It once carried the PID EZ5947, but has been removed from the NGS database. Besides being in a unique setting beside a seven-foot rock outcrop, the mark has an interesting history. Originally, mark was stamped HUNTER, and that is the name on topo maps. However, the property owner (at the time the mark was set) was a Mr. Hunt. He pestered the survey crew until they restamped the name. If you look closely at the disk, you can see where the letters "ER" were chiseled away!

The disk is just west of Frosty's Trading Post. Here are the directions:

TO REACH FROM JONES FERRY RD, PROCEED WEST ON CRAWFORD DAIRY ROAD (SR1539) FOR ONE MILE TO A SEVEN-FOOT TALL ROCK OUTCROP ON LEFT, JUST BEFORE CHICKEN BRIDGE ROAD (SR1545), AND AZMIUTH MARK MOUNTED HORIZONTALLY IN A SMALL OUTCROP ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE TALL ROCK.

[NOTE: The main station is deep within private property. Recreational recovery is not recommended.]
