John Kaiser served as a First Sergeant in the Union Army in Company E, 2nd U.S. Artillery. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on June 27, 1862 at Richmond, Virginia. Kaiser was honored for his gallant and meritorious service against the Confederate forces during the Seven Days' Battle near Richmond on June 27, 1862.
Sergeant Kaiser was born in 1825 at Nerzogenaurach, Germany and died January 9, 1894. He is buried in section 8 of Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo.
