Used to go by the name of "Old Main" -now it bears the name of our 23rd President.
Miami's premier scholarship program also bears the name of Harrison (Harrison Scholars)
Harrison graduated from Miami University in 1852 and proceeded to start his career as a lawyer.
In 1862 he put aside his legal practice to lead Union troops into the Civil War. He later became a US senator before being elected as the nation's 23rd President. As President he was responsible for opening up the Oklahoma territory while still advocating for Native American rights.
