This is one of the few markers to the men of World War I in the area and is dedicated to the Men of Clay County, Iowa. Though the marker does not indicate a time of dedication, locals indicated that the statue portion per dates WWII but was placed on the 'base' when Liberty Courthouse was biult some 50 years ago.
