The Space Needle has been a major attraction in Gatlinburg since 1970. My mother and I went to the top when I was little and now my kids have made the same trip. I'm sure this has been the case for many people who live or visit Gatlinburg and the Great Smokey Mountains. The Needle has an arcade at the base with many games and a couple of indoor rides. The trip to the top is made by riding in a glass elevator where you can enjoy your ascent. The platform has the capacity to hold up to 250 people and rises 407 feet with a 360 degree view of the surrounding area.

New Years Eve in Gatlinburg offers visitors a special treat, a street party with bands as a ball drops from the Needle counting down the new year followed by fireworks.
