There are several ways to reach the summit. There are several trails from the north side of the mountain and are probably a little easier than the suggested route below, although I believe these require a four-wheel drive vehicle to get to.
The primary access point to the mountain is from Box Canyon Road. This can be reached by taking the frontage road west from Picacho Avenue. Approximately 1.3 miles from turning onto the frontage road is a dirt road that goes in northwest direction. This is Box Canyon Road. Follow this road past the airport. It will lead into the BLM area. This road is not too bad, and should be suitable for most vehicles- although cars with low clearance should be cautious.
Parking, and the trailhead, is at approximately: N 32° 19.381 W 106° 54.275. This trail can be steep in some places, sandy in others.
