The cemetery is located in Fort Steilacoom Park. Over 3,200 Hundred Psychiatric patients from the Western State Hospital are buried in this cemetery. Burial sites are from 1876 to 1953.

The re dedication plaque from Grave Concerns Association on the front of this marker is dated September 2003. The marker itself is much older with the letters W S H on the back in rock much like many other buildings and monuments in the area.
