The Public Square when originally developed centered on the courthouse built in 1815 and torn down 1841. The buildings surrounding the square are mostly Late Victorian styled built in the mid to late 1800's. The square is now centered by a small park and fountain. The Public Square remains the center point for many community events in Troy.
