The all steel houses were constructed by the Hobart Welded Steel House Company. The house is constructed of all welded steel including floors, exterior and interior walls, ceiling and roof. The kitchen and bathroom cabinetry were also constructed of welded steel. The houses was constructed at the company's site on West Main Street in Troy, Ohio and moved to the site by flatbed truck.
The styles represented in the district include Georgian Revival, Dutch Colonial, Cape Code and Moderne. Some of the homes in the district have been resided and reroofed while others remain more in their "natural" state.
