It seems like it is not very often that one can actually find out a bit about an anchor, but I did about this one!

The anchor is from the schooner 'Franklin Pierce'. The schooner sank in Lake Ontario off the town of Wilson, in 1840. The anchor was found near Wilson pier 57 years later! The front lawn where the anchor now resides is an historic Cobblestone House (WM40JA)that was built by Morgan Johnson in 1844. Morgan was a ship captain and his ship, the "Milly Cook" caught fire and sank in Wilson Harbor.
