Mary Jane Hayner House was constructed in 1914 in a Romanesque or late Victorian style. In her will Mary Jane Hayner bequeathed the home to the City of Troy with the stipulation that it be used as a library, a museum or for other cultural or educational purpose. The mansion was used as the public library for 33 year until 1976 when a new public library was built. At this time it was decided that mansion would become a community cultural center. One of permanent displays in the center is a collection of artifacts from the Hayner Distillery, which was the source of the Hayner family fortune. The center has a number of revolving exhibits throughout the year.
