Pony Express Stables - Elwood, KS - Pony Express Monuments on Waymarking.com

This memorial is a freestanding granite marker located at the site of the first Kansas station on the Pony Express between Missouri and California.

The memorial was dedicated on April 3, 2005, by the Means family, James Stretesky, Affiliated Foods Midwest, Herzog Contracting Corp, Carson Communications LLC, Ray and Mary Jo Becker family, Pony Express Community Bank, and Pony Express Trail Association.

Unfortunately, my nighttime photo of the Stables didn't turn out very well, but I've posted it anyway.

Visit Instructions:
1) Locate and photograph a monument or memorial to the Pony Express, be it a stone or a mural or a roadside sign.

2) The standard rules apply: a photo of the goal and one of your GPS unit - no vacation photos or web downloads will be accepted.

3) Include the coordinates of the location and the name of the city or town in your log.

4) Feel free to include as much history as you'd like. Educate us!
