This building is a replica of the original Alamo located in San Antonio, TX. Currently, this is a body shop place. Sounds rather odd for such a unique building. During the 1980's, this building was a popular arcade hangout for Plano teens.
The Alamo, located in San Antonio, began construction on May 8, 1744. Constructed of limestone, it was to be built as the church for the Mission San Antonio de Valero.
The Battle of the Alamo took place during February and March 1836. Mexican General Santa Anna had 6,000 soldiers under his command. The Alamo had approximately 187 men to defend it. The siege started on February 23, 1836 and lasted 13 days. It ended on March 6, 1836 with the death of nearly all the Texan defenders. Even though the Alamo was lost to the Mexican army, the battle allowed Sam Houston time to gather troops and supplies for his later victory at the Battle of San Jacinto.
