Karin Maria Boye, novelist, poet, and short story writer, was born in Göteborg, Sweden. Her father was a civil engineer. She was educated at the universities of Uppsala and Stockholm. After receiving her M.A. she worked as a teacher. She later founded the magazine, SPEKTRUM, with Erik Mesterton and Josef Riwkin and contributed to the magazine ARBETET.
Boye published her first book, MOLN, when she was 22. One of her best known works is the 1940 science fiction novel KALLOCAIN.
Karin Boye committed suicide in Alingsas, Sweden, in 1941.
