The building is in a state of disrepair and up for sale so we were surprised to find the Cut Mark in good condition. It is engraved on the north west face of the foundation stone, 0.4m above the ground and on the west angle. There are two foundation stones which read ERECTED A.D. 1852.
The Cut Mark was last verified in 1970 and is 32.7995 above sea level. It is of a similar style to the one on St Andrew's Church in the town and is the same, large size.
The building is going to be converted into apartments and in the grounds are gravestones indicating that it must have originally been a Chapel which matches its appearance.
