This garden is a City of Berkeley Park and a City of Berkeley Historic Landmark. It was completed in 1934 as a Civil Works Administration project and dedicated in September 1937. The garden was designed by Vernon M. Dean in the shape of an amphitheater topped by a pergola.
May is probably the best month to visit the garden as the roses are in full bloom, but in this mild Mediterranean climate, one can find roses blooming even in December. On weekday mornings the place is a quiet respite from the city. Spectacular views toward San Francisco make this an ideal place to daydream or watch the sunset. During the summer, this rose garden is a popular place for weddings. Some weekends the events are lined up back-to-back.
The garden is located on the west side of Euclid Avenue near Eunice Street. Park along Euclid Avenue and walk down into the garden.
