Long Description:
The first lookout on Lava Butte was constructed in 1931. The original lookout was replaced in 1957 and in 1962 the area beneath the tower was enclosed with windows and a small visitor area was constructed which included a painted mural describing the view. In 1998 a new lookout was constructed and it also included a glass enclosed visitor area beneath the lookout. Above the windows there is an annotated photographic mural showing the view.

Artist / Creator: No Date of creation: 1998 Location / Access: The lookout is at the summit of Lava Butte adjacent to U.S. Hwy. 97 and is reached by a road which spirals to the summit of the butte.
