Both freight and passenger trains (Amtrak) run right down the middle of the street here. You can also catch a train at the nearby Oakland Station.

There are many options for watching trains here at Jack London Square, all of them quite civilized. You can stroll up and down the Embarcadero, sit at Ben and Jerry's and enjoy an ice cream cone, climb the pedestrian bridge at the nearby Oakland station and watch them from above, or even catch a train to Sacramento or down the coast. One of our favorite options is to catch a train to the Berkeley station, wander around the Fourth Street shopping area, then a couple of hours later, return to Oakland via train. The particular rail route passes some fascinating industrial areas of Oakland and Emeryville, including, of course, some rail yards..
Note: Ben and Jerry's is a block northwest on Embarcadero St. from the coodinates, and the train station is 3 blocks southeast.
