Roadside Interpretive Site at the Jack Lake adjacent to the Lodge at Summer Lake on the Outback Scenic Byway. The site contains six signs: Harris Schoolhouse (History), A Place of Richness (History), Sparked by Nature (Fire), Birding and Byways (Wildlife), Birds (Wildlife), and Byway Description.
The Outback Scenic Byway extends for a 170 miles from La Pine to the California border following Ore. Hwy. 31 and U.S. Hwy. 395. The route was designated as an Oregon State Scenic Byway on February 19, 1997 and as a National Scenic Byway on June 9, 1998.
