This lonely chimney is all that remains of a historic little school house built in 1848 and survived the rigors of time and the Civil War only to be razed by fire in 1999. The building attached was used for many purposes including a voting precinct and the housing of Union prisoners during the Civil War. A marker placed by the Etowah Valley Historical society tells the story of this beautiful little place. Inside the chimney is an old photo of the school house in it's later years. When you visit this quiet place stop and feel the history of the area.
You may park in the driveway to the entrance to this property but be mindful this is private property maintained by the owners for the benefit of historical value.
