St. Fimbarrus church is situated at the heart of the historic port of Fowey. Most of the building dates from the 14th & 15th centuries but the site has religious connections possibly stretching back as far as the 6th century. The most impressive part of the church is its 120 ft. high tower which was built in the 1460`s. Features of interest include a pulpit made from timber taken from a Spanish galleon, and monuments to local landowners the Treffry & Rashleigh families.
In medieval times Fowey had busy trading links with the continent and some foriegn influence can be seen in parts of the design.
Parking is VERY limited in the old part of the town, when driving into Fowey follow signs to the main car park.
