The congregation was founded in 1957 when the Fresno First Lutheran Church desired a new building in northwest Fresno. By the time the church was established Fresno First decided to remain where it was located and deeded property to the newly founded Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church. Services began in a remodeled house and garage while a church was under construction. The church moved into its current facility in 1982.
I have been here a few times on Sunday but not regularly. I know, I know... . There are many Lutheran Churches in Fresno and several of them make an architectural statement, this one has a fabric roof! The most recent development at the church was construction of a Community Center.
The current pastor is Ted Niemi who was installed on September 29, 2002
