The Dodge County Courthouse stands on the same site as two earlier buildings that were destroyed by fires.

Dodge County Nebraska was established in 1856 and Fremont became the county seat in 1860. The first courthouse, built in 1867 was destroyed by fire twenty years later. A new courthouse, completed in 1890 was also a fire victim in 1915. The present classical revival style building, completed in 1918, was constructed on the same site as the two previous courthouses.
