Alport Height is partly owned by the National Trust who acquired it in 1930. As well as a topograph, there are transmitter masts, a triangulation pillar, a disused quarry, a guide stoop, a sandstone pillar and a motocross circuit.

Most of the west side is covered with gorse bushes with a path around them. The top is over 1000 feet above sea level, and open except for the high fenced compounds around the masts and trig pillar. The north and east sides are farmland. The southern slope is used as a motocross track by Derby Sporting Club.
There are two large free parking areas, with height barrier.
