Three historical markers stand at the same pull out along route 10 west of Sisseton SD. Each tells what happened to two people caught out in Dakota blizzards. This is one of the two tales that has a tragic ending.
In 1903, close to this marker, a homesteader accompanied by his two daughters was returning home when a blizzard struck. After a sleigh runner broke he attempted to lead his horses home with the girls hanging onto their tails. But both sisters were lost in the storm.
