Long Description:
This particular structure was originally built in 1935 as a replacement for the original dam (1848, replaced 1877) designed to provide a stable impoundment of the DuPage River for the I&M Canal to cross (instead of an aqueduct).

The spillway continues its function of providing a stable water elevation for the DuPage River. The spillway that creates this man-made waterfall is 165 feet long and 11.5 feet high with a slope of 2.5:1.
