The Covered Bridge was built in 1854 by Wilhelm Misselhorn from Germany and is the only bridge of its kind left in Southern Illinois.

It was in continuous service from 1854 to 1930 and renovated by the State in 2005. It is several mile from Chester, Illinois, but well worth the short drive. It is in a very scenic area. There is a historical marker near the parking area.
