This marker adorns a beautiful, modest two story home along Main Street. This is an excellent example of an 18th century home. The story goes this home, standing on the northwest corner of Main and Schooley Streets, was then the home of Joshua Bispham (who built it as well). It was commandeered by Hessian officers during the Revolutionary War as they retreated from Philadelphia in 1778, thus the name, "Hessian House".

Located at 139 East Main Street in downtown Moorestown. This is one of 351 contributing buildings/structures to this historic district.

The Department of the Interior sent me the following narrative/information on this house:
"c.1735. 2 1/2-story, 3-register stone Colonial house, scored stucco. paneled door with wood surround. 8/8 double hung sash and paneled shutters at first floor; louvered at second. Pedimented dormer with arched 9/6 double hung sash and molded surround with keystone. - Contributing.
